Cesana - Sestriere

The hillclimb championship race puts drivers’ skills to the test on natural tracks that ascend the mountains of Piedmont.

With its natural tracks scaling the Piedmontese mountains, the "CE-SE", as it is known locally, provides a stern test for drivers along a spectacular 10.4 km route that starts 1300 metres above sea level in Cesana Torinese and climbs to Sestriere, at an altitude of 2035 metres. 

FCA Heritage is entering four historic models in the competition: two Fiats and two exceptional Lancias.

The 1954 Fiat 8V, known in Italy as the "Otto Vu", was the first Fiat model with independent suspension and attracted a great deal of interest from coachbuilders such as Zagato, Vignale, Siata and Ghia.

With only 142 cars manufactured, the 1955 Fiat 1100 TV Trasformabile offered reliable cornering and smoothness, making it a popular choice for sports car events such as the Mille Miglia.

The Fulvia Coupé Rallye 1.6 HF, with its elegant and sporty look inspired by Riva motorboats of the period, spearheaded Lancia’s Squadra Corse HF team for several seasons, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1972.

1983 was a winning year for the Lancia Rally 037 in its unmistakable Martini livery, which took the constructors’ title in the World Rally Championship, came second in the drivers’ championship with Walter Rohrl and won the European Rally Drivers’ Championship with Miki Biasion.

The Cesana-Sestriere hillclimb is coincides with a magical period for Turin-based automaker Fiat, which is celebrating the anniversary of the Fiat 500. A style icon and emblem of Italy’s post-war economic boom, the baby of the Fiat family turned 60 years old on 4 July. In honour of the mythical car known in Italy as the "Cinquino", the Cesana-Sestriere event will include a spectacular parade of historic 500 cars alongside the latest model, the new 500 Anniversary.

This year, the jury awarded the Best of Show prize to the 1954 Fiat 8V from the FCA Heritage Collection. An elegant coupé with a powerful eight-cylinder engine that beat over 100 cars in the Cesana-Sestriere Experience, a contest of racing performance and elegance all rolled into one.
