From 7 October 2017 to 4 February 2018, the first major Italian retrospective on Peter Lindbergh, the legendary German photographer who rewrote the rules of fashion photography, will be held in the Palace of Venaria (Turin).
The event’s main sponsor is the fashionable city car par excellence: the Lancia Ypsilon, which has always been synonymous with class and elegance.
To mark the exclusive vernissage of the exhibition, FCA Heritage is loaning three gems from its Lancia collection: an Aurelia B20 GT, an Aurelia B24 and a Flaminia, all dating from the halcyon Dolce Vita era. These three extraordinary vintage cars will accompany Peter Lindbergh and his VIP guests to the monumental palace.
The Lancia Aurelia B20 is an authentic grand tourer that grows more graceful with age. It not only won the hearts of motorists during the 1950s, but also distinguished itself in national and international competitions.
The Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider is considered by many to be the most beautiful roadster ever made and was a runaway success in the American market. The perfect curves of the legendary B24 Spider have lost none of their appeal and are a lasting testament to the elegance and purity of the car’s design. This particular model is a special landaulet version, used continuously since 1960 by the President of the Republic for state processions.
The Flaminia is a luxurious and majestic high-class saloon. The prototype first appeared at the 1956 Turin Auto Show and was presented in its final version at the Geneva Motor Show in 1957.
The exhibition dedicated to the legendary German photographer, who is considered one of the greatest living fashion photographers, includes over 220 of the artist’s best works. Lindbergh revolutionised fashion photography with a personal technique and an innovative style inspired by the language of cinema and dance.
This new approach spelled an end to lifeless poses, in favour of portraits that express grace and sensuality. His sophisticated portfolio includes snapshots featuring the likes of Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, who defined fashion in the late 20th century and ushered in the supermodel era.
