From 2 to 3 October, the charming Villa del Grumello in Como is hosting the second edition of the Fuori Concorso exhibition. Turbo technology is the theme of the show, which combines automotive passion and the exclusivity of Italian manufacturing. Our Lancia ECV2 prototype, the only one of its kind in the world, is the star attraction of this prestigious event.
On 2 and 3 October 2021, the second edition of Fuori Concorso is being held at the 17th-century Villa del Grumello, which overlooks the banks of Lake Como just a short walk from Como town centre.
This year the event, which combines automotive passion and the exclusivity of Italian manufacturing, focuses on the theme of turbo technology, which in recent decades has powered a number of cars that have captured the public’s imagination.
Turbo-engine production cars, racing cars, concept cars and prototypes from manufacturers’ motor museums and major private collections are on display in the prestigious location.
The event’s star attraction is the Lancia ECV2 prototype, the only one of its kind in the world, which belongs to the Stellantis Heritage collection. It never raced due to a change in the World Rally Championship regulations, but to this day it still captures people’s attention with its innovative technological solutions, which were intended to push its performance to the max.
Produced in 1988, the Lancia ECV2 prototype was an evolution of the Lancia ECV (Experimental Composite Vehicle). The car was created to study the introduction of new composite materials in World Rally Championship competitions, and used carbon fibre panels, a honeycomb frame structure and rigid foams to achieve weight savings. Equipped with a 1759 cc 4-cylinder engine that develops up to 600 hp at 8000 rpm, the Lancia ECV2 reaches a top speed of 220 km/h and goes from 0–200 km/h in just 9 seconds.
In addition to the exhibition, the Fuori Concorso schedule includes meetings with F1 and rally drivers as well as industry experts including Roberto Giolito, internationally renowned automobile designer and Head of Heritage – Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth at Stellantis.
