Just like every year in Bologna, the first week of December is synonymous with the Motor Show. BolognaFiere exhibition centre is opening its doors to all motoring enthusiasts for the latest edition of the Motor Show, which has become an event not to be missed.
The Bologna Motor Show is now a permanent fixture in the calendar for all car and motorbike enthusiasts. The exhibition was devised in 1976 as a reference point for younger motorists and female audiences in particular.
For over 40 years, the Motor Show has attracted thousands upon thousands of visitors thanks to its ability to annually reinvent itself and keep pace with the times.
The 2017 edition promises more motorsport, more displays, more competitions, more stunts... and more historic cars. Passione Classica Racing is a large space organised in conjunction with leading museums, collections and brand registers, that allows the public to relive the competition exploits of some of the world’s most famous racing models.
FCA Heritage is playing a prominent role in the exhibition with a display of four iconic rally cars from the 1970s, a period universally considered to be the golden age of this motorsport discipline.
Visitors can admire a 1974 Lancia Stratos Gr.4, a 1976 Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Gr.4 and a 1975 Fiat 124 Abarth Rally Gr.4. Alongside them is a 1975 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT Gr. 2 belonging to a private collection.
Thanks to the legendary 1974 Lancia Stratos, decked out in the distinctive white, red and black livery of sponsor Pirelli, Lancia was able to dominate the world of rallying until the mid-1970s.
The Fiat 131 Abarth Rally, with its 2-door body style and 4-cylinder twin-cam power unit—which was derived from the Fiat 2-litre engine and tuned up by Abarth—enthralled Abarth aficionados and rally spectators in general for several seasons. In 1976 it was chosen to replace another legendary car: the Fiat 124 Abarth Rally Gr.4. Set up by the Abarth Racing Team, the 124 Abarth Rally made its debut in the 1972 season and continued its prolific career until 1975.
Beside this historic car there is space for its latest successor: the new Abarth 124 Rally, which in 2017 entered the Monte Carlo Rally, the Tour de Corse and also the Italian and Spanish national championships, winning the GT class title in both events.
This juxtaposition between past and present reflects a precise choice that encapsulates the FCA Heritage philosophy: the mutual promotion of historic and modern cars. Only by preserving and promoting automotive history is it possible to cultivate a mature and informed passion for motoring that enables people to better appreciate the advancements in present-day cars.
FCA Heritage promotes this value of continuity. That is why it uses its own exhibition space to sponsor its Officine Classiche workshops and promote their certification and restoration services. And for taking care of your own vintage runabout, FCA Heritage proposes the new line of Selenia Classic engine oils: a range of lubricants that combines the use of modern technologies with a passion for classic cars and the graphics of the historic Olio Fiat and Selenia Alfa Romeo oil cans. Produced in partnership with PETRONAS, the new Selenia Classic engine oils will be on sale from 2018 at FCA Group Authorised Dealerships.
