Fiat 500 LEGO®

The new Creator Expert set dedicated to the Italian icon.

March 2, 2020

The scale model of the legendary vintage Fiat 500 to be built with the world's most famous, colourful building bricks, was presented in Turin.

They were the years of the Dolce Vita, of the Italian economic boom and of the first family road trips. The vintage Fiat 500 is the icon of an unforgettable age in Italian history.

And this year, the timeless legend of the 500 earns an official place in the LEGO® world. Sales of the new Fiat 500 LEGO® Creator Expert set inspired by the Fiat 500 F of the Sixties start on March 1 online and in all LEGO Stores worldwide. The F series of the 500 was the one with the most units made and one of them is on display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Created with the unmistakable Sixties-inspired pastel yellow livery of the 500 driven the popular gentleman-thief Lupin III in the famous Japanese anime, the model is made of 960 pieces and measures 11x24x11 centimetres in size. The interior is extremely detailed. The top and the rear bonnet, which houses a precise replica of the engine, can be opened. The model has a trademark luggage rack on the back, while the front boot houses a spare wheel. The Italian number plate sports the letters "TO" which is the provincial code of Turin where the extraordinary car was made, while the painter's kit, including a painting of the 500 with the Colosseum in the background, is a tribute to Italian style and artistic creativity.

A life-size model of the legendary 500 F was also unveiled during the official presentation. Made with 189,032 bricks, the 1:1 scale model took seven LEGO® designers over 830 hours of work. It will be on display in Turin for a few days at FCA headquarters in Mirafiori before setting off on tour to accompany the promotion of the new set in the various LEGO Stores.
