The 37th edition of the historic Mille Miglia has ended. The re-enactment of the most beautiful race in the world, as Enzo Ferrari liked to call it, was won by an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS.
Occupying the highest step of the Mille Miglia podium on 18 May 2019 was a 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 SS driven by Giovanni Moceri and Daniele Bonetti, who were followed over the finish line by the pairing of Andrea Vesco and Andrea Guerini in an Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato.
The 6C 1500 SS is one of the finest cars in the FCA Heritage collection and is normally displayed at the Alfa Romeo Historical Museum in Arese, along with two other gems that were also competing in Brescia, a 1956 1900 SS and a 1954 1900 Sport Spider.
The most beautiful race in the world, created in 1927, challenged competitors to drive to the Italian capital and back in the shortest time possible. And this year it returned once again as an unmissable re-enactment that showcased the most charming and prestigious cars of yesteryear.
In this edition there were 44 Alfa Romeo cars on the starting line. The Milan constructor had the largest number of entrants and was also Automotive Sponsor.
There were not just classic cars, though, because Alfa Romeo also provided the stars of its current range to accompany the stages of the Mille Miglia: the Giulia and Stelvio - also present in the Quadrifoglio and Quadrifoglio Alfa Romeo Racing versions.
And, straight from the F1 world championship, Alfa Romeo Racing team driver Antonio Giovinazzi was the guest of honour at the Brescia event, and was at the starting line when the cars set off.
